frequently asked questions

Q. Do you make a “standard” Turntable?
A. All CPS Turntables use similar Engineering principals and benefit from our many years of experience. However, since every application differs slightly, we use these “elements” to design and build your turntable to exactly suit your requirements and budget.

Q. Do Turntables need much servicing and maintenance?
A. Not much at all. The “sealed for life” bearings which we use, combined with high quality motors, gearboxes, electronics and driving gear, make them very reliable. CPS do offer a full after sales service, so if you need any assistance we are here to help.

Q. Can I fit a turntable on a slope?
A. Yes, we have bearings which will cope with gentle slopes, but we do need to specify a slightly larger motor to overcome the increased load put on the driving mechanism.

Q. Can I have a turntable surface to match my drive/garden?
A. Within reason we can surface a CPS Turntable with almost anything, Granite blocks, cobbles, gravel, tarmac etc. Talk to us about your requirements and we will do our best to ensure that your installation blends in with its surroundings completely.

Q. Are vehicle Turntables expensive?
A. We believe that the value added to a property far exceeds the cost of any turntable. As an example we have been told that in London, property value is increased by something in excess of £100,000 per parking space added.

Q. Can I do some of the work myself?
A. Certainly, providing you agree which parts you want to do yourself, or have done by your own builder, before we start and providing this work meets our specifications we are happy to work with you.

Q. What’s the difference between a cheap turntable and a CPS Turntable?
A. Often other manufacturers start by quoting for a small diameter, very simple, push-around unit leaving the customer to plan, prepare, carry out building work and install the unit themselves. CPS prefers to discuss each installation fully with the customer, make sure that what is being specified is what the customer really wants and only then start talking about price options.

Q. If I have a “manual” turntable installed can it be “powered” later on?
A. Certainly, however we do point out that returning to an installation at a later date to convert it to powered rotation will cost more that doing the job in one go.

Q. What about safety?
A. We have an excellent safety record. Our turntables have non slip surfaces, cannot be activated by accident and in any case rotate at less than walking pace making them quite safe to walk on even when turning (although this is certainly not advised). In addition, the installation of a turntable adds to the safety of a site by allowing vehicles to be driven from it in a forwards direction, rather than reversed out with all of the dangers that this can create.

Q. Do you offer free advice to people who don’t understand Turntables?
A. We certainly do, if you just give us a call or fill in the “quotations” form on this site we can give you lots of FREE advice and help. After all it’s in both yours and our interest to give you the right Turntable for the job!

Q. Can you work with my Builder, Landscaper, Architect, Developer?
A. Absolutely. We have a long history of working with all of these people on projects as varied as underground Turntables in Council Library buildings to Turntables which are part of award winning garden designs.

Q. Do I need to be “Technical” to talk to you?
A. No, quite the reverse, we are quite used to talking to people who know nothing about Turntables, after all that’s OUR job!
